After recovering from the shock I received looking at his web site today,

I want to offer a very special congratulations and a "WELL DONE!"

to C-O-MM's very own Lt. Britt Crosby and his wonderful

wife Dispatcher Robyn Crosby on their upcoming, and yes, very

unexpected retirement from the department on January 21, 2011.

It is safe to say that Britt and Robyn have been and continue to be

outstanding ambassadors of the fire service and have

gone above and beyond in serving their community and department. In addition,

Britt's passion for the fire service, and Robyn's patience with his passion,

are evident in the amazing web site CapeCodFD.com that Britt has

owned and operated for over 10 years. From being a "pioneer" as a

paramedic on the Cape to his coverage of FD happenings all across

Cape Cod and southeastern MA, many people have benefited from

his endless dedication to "the Job!" Britt and Robyn's departures after a

combined 63 years of service will leave two very large voids to fill. You will both

be missed yet you have truly earned this great achievement!

Tragedy has again struck the Fire Service in Massachusetts.  Peabody Firefighter

James Rice has passed away from injuries he sustained while fighting a 3-alarm fire

 in that city today. May God bless him, his family, and all of the Fire Department

members in Peabody. This indeed has been a very difficult month. Our thoughts

and prayers are with everyone touched by yet another loss of life of a firefighter

Sturbridge (NEW Ambulance 1).
